Four juniors fished the second leg of CBVSACs junior summer league at Benarth earlier today.
After the kids struggled in their first match at Deganwy last month, I was hoping the fishing would have picked up in the estuary, although Benarth rarely lets us down.
This proved to be the case again, as three of the lads had fish on their first cast.
Dan ( centre ) had a Flounder of 38cms, while his brother Jack ( right ) managed a smaller Flounder of 36cm and an Eel of 50cm, but Tom ( left ) moved into an early lead with a treble header of a 30cm Codling and 2 Eels of 50cm and 40cm.
Young Hari was next in, with a small Plaice of 19cm.
The Eels were caught steadily for the next few hours, with Jack moving into a lead and Hari finding his first ever Eels which he enjoyed.
As the final casts were sent out, Jack was leading Tom by 26cm. Jacks rod remained quiet, but Tom had a good knock which didn’t seem to develop into anything, but as the final casts were brought in, Tom had a double header of an Eel and a Short Spined Sea Scorpion to add an extra 56cm to his bag and seal the victory.
Many thanks once again to Joe of Jokers tackle in Greenfield Road, Colwyn Bay for providing fresh crab for the kids to use.
Hopefully the Dee will fish better for our next junior match at Mostyn on 3/6/12, fishing 15-30 until 18-30.
