Three juniors fished the fourth leg of the junior summer league, at Benarth earlier today. The weather brightened up about an hour before we were due to begin, and this spot is protected from the wind so it made for quite a pleasant day.
There was a little more water than i anticipated as we set up, so i wasnt hopeful of fish early on, but Toms rod was bouncing within minutes of the start. Unfortunately, the rig was snagged, and after trying all sorts, the line parted. This was to happen again on the second cast!!! However Elliot had struck into a bite, and managed to beach his first ever Bass.
It was measured at 45 cms,
and weighed at 02-02-00 Lbs before being released.
The tide was dropping now, so we moved nearer to the mouth of the stream.
Everyone began catching, with a couple of good specimens coming in.
This Flounder weighed 02-04-04 Lbs, and was caught by Stephen Higginson.
worth another view i think,
Elliot Roberts had his second specimen Eel of the year, weighing 01-08-04 Lbs, but Tom struggled to hook the bites he was having, managing only a couple of fish.
At the end of the match, Elliot had walked it, with a bag of a Bass, 5 Eels and a Flounder for a total of 266cms.
Stephen was second, with 2 Eels and his cracking Flounder for 126cms, and Tom was third with a Flounder and an Eel for 72cms.
The last match of the league will be held at The Foryd on 07/09/2008, fishing from 14-00 until 17-00.
Going into this match, the current league placings are;
1. Elliot, 58 points, 548cms
2. Tom, 57 points, 384cms
3.Stephen, 32 points, 156cms
4.Evan, 10 points, 0cms
