Last night`s match at North Shore saw a cracking turn out of 27 anglers fishing, despite a few of the regulars missing this one, this was more than made up for by an influx of new and returning members, welcome to all of you!
As for the fishing, it couldn`t have been more different than the corresponding fixture last year when just a few rockling were weighed in. This time it was double and treble headers of whiting all night long, however 27 cms. seems to be a magic number, more than 90% of the ones I had were 25`s and 26`s and I think that was pretty general for everyone.
The last hour produced a few more in-size fish, and by the end, 26 of us had fish to weigh in.
Top bag on the night went to Bill McLintock, 14 whiting and a doggy for 3.25 kgs.
Second was new member Jordan Roberts with 10 whiting for 2.00, Pete Price 3rd with 9 for 1.99, and John Jones 4th with 9 for 1.82. Barry Haigh took 5th with 7 whiting and a dab for 1.62, and Gareth Flynn 6th with 5 whiting and a dog for 1.59, his dog taking the heaviest fish prize at 0.73 kgs.
Top team were Bill McLintock and Barry Haigh with 70 points, and the junior prize went to Jack Peters with 2 whiting for 0.33 kgs.
