19 members turned out for the first match of the year, the snow and ice had disappeared, but the wind still had teeth in it!
The fishing was too bad to be called poor, it was abysmal! Only 6 of the 19 weighed in, the top two had two rockling each and the other four had 1 each.
I managed to find two for 0.17 kgs. to win the match, and my name came out in the golden card, so I went home with £133. That makes rockling worth about as much as gold. 2nd place went to Norman with two for 0.13 , that made us the only team with 2 weighers and 71 points to start the year.
3rd and 4th places were shared by the joint heaviest fish, both 0.12, for Dave Elmer and Barry Haigh. 5th was Dan Davies with one of 0.11, and 6th Gary Jones with one of 0.10.
No ladies or juniors took part, and everyone went home with a prize from the cancelled fur and feather match, plus the rest of the prizes were raffled off, making for a productive evening for some.
