17 signed in for the first match, a Conwy estuary rover, with peeler crab a must have and flounders the only viable targets.
We spread out to various likely spots, and reports of fish on the first couple of casts made good news after the dire last couple of matches in the winter.
After the first couple of hours there were 3 or 4 with 4 fish each but as the fish moved downstream they started to come on where I was, near the lagoon at Deganwy, and with a last hour bonanza of 7 fish in four casts I ended up in 1st place with 11 flounders for 3.55 kgs. Flounders were the only species weighed in, with 14 anglers taking fish to the scales.
John Jones took 2nd place with 6 fish for 2.77. his best one, a specimen of 0.96 ( 2-01-12 lbs), took the heaviest fish prize.
Paul Jones was 3rd with 5 for 1.99, 2 of these were specimen size at 0.68 and 0.69 kgs. Keeping up with the Joneses was Colin Elmer in 4th with 5 for 1.90 ( welcome back Colin )
Chris Jackson was 5th with 3 for 1.20, including this specimen of 0.80 ( 1-12-00 )
6th place went to Mike Peters, with 2 for 0.96, Jordan Davies was the only junior , so took the junior prize, and top team were Norman and myself with 64 points.
