21 members turned up at Deganwy for this one, with plenty of peeler crab available it looked good for the usual bags of flounder and some decent specimens. This didn`t prove to be the case though, with most struggling to get more than the odd flounder, and the average size was very small, 25 to 30 cms. for the most part, with the heaviest fish being just 0.54 kgs. ( 1-03-08 lbs.)
This might have been because it was such a small tide, or possibly because of the cold rainwater coming down the river.
Halfway through the match we were hit by a squall with heavy rain and then hailstones which lasted for the best part of half an hour and left us even more depressed than before
When it was over I unwrapped the camera and took a couple of shots as it moved off towards Bangor.
By the end of the match it turned out that a few anglers around the signal box area had found several fish, but only 13 of the 21 weighed in, with just 3 finding more than 3 fish.
Paul Jones took the honours with 10 flounders and an eel for 2.71 kgs.
Norman Dorling was second with 6 flounders and a rockling for 1.67 kgs. ( he`d drawn the golden card as well and missed out on £ 164 )
Dave Jones took 3rd with 1.30, Stephen Higginson 4th with 0.83, I was 5th with 0.62, and Mike Peters 6th with 0.44
Top team were Paul and Dave with 71 points, Jack Peters took the junior prize with 0.18, and Dave Jones had the heaviest fish prize with a flounder of 0.54.
