Last night`s Fur and Feather open on North Shore attracted an entry of just 36. Thanks to the Anglesey and Wirral anglers who made the effort, without them it would have been a disaster.
The fishing was pretty grim, with undersize whiting and a few dabs and rockling making up the bags, apart from the section around the border of A and B zones, where a pocket of fish holding ground turned up some decent dabs.
The winner was Ian Brookes from Birkenhead with 7 dabs and a whiting from A zone for a weight of 4-09-12 lbs.
Dave Elmer of Mochdre took 2nd with 3 dabs and a rockling from B zone for 2-12-00,2 of his dabs were specimen size, the best one a cracker of 1-01-14.
3rd place went to Andrew Parsons with 2-10-10 from A zone, which included the heaviest flatfish, a flounder of 1-06-08. Heather Lindfield of Greasby took the ladies prize with a rockling of 0-03-08 and the heaviest round fish prize went to James Frazer of Holyhead with a whiting of 0-11-00.
The 3 zone prizes for anglers missing out on the top 3 places went to Wayne McGilloway in A zone with 2-09-02,John Jones in B zone with 0-15-0, and Shane Russell in C zone with 1-10-04.
Thanks to everyone who supported the raffle, which just saved the club from losing money on the match.
