14 turned up in bitterly cold weather for the last match, with 6 of us in with a chance of winning the league.
The fishing turned out to be pretty hectic, with double and treble headers of whiting, some undersize, but some decent ones amongst them, a few dabs and rockling, and half a dozen decent codling.
Mitch took the top spot with 12 whiting, a dab and a last cast 3 pound codling for a weight of 4.36 kgs.Norman was 2nd with 2 codling and 13 whiting for 4.13, and Gary Bates 3rd with 18 whiting for 4.04, one of them was 36 cm. just under a pound! Paul Jones took the heaviest fish prize with a nice codling of 1.63 ( 3-09-04 )
I was a bit premature after the weigh in ,in announcing Gary Bates as the league winner, I hadn`t allowed for species points. After several recounts and a new battery in my calculator it emerged that only 2 points separated the top 4 in the league. Dave Mitchell and Norman Dorling tied on 241, with Mitch winning on total weight, and Gary Bates and myself tied for 3rd, just 2 points behind, with Gary winning on weight, the same situation applied to the teams as well, with Mitch and Gary taking the title on weight after a tie with Norman and myself.
