| Just ten of us made the journey down the Lleyn for this one, but at least the weather was on our side, a flat calm sea as warm as an indoor swimming pool and a lovely sunset as we started to fish. It started slowly for most of us apart from Sam ,who found a Dog first cast, and Kev who got a couple of Dragonets amongst the undersized Dabs. The Dogs came on later, but the bites were a bit shy, with a lot not finding the hooks. Gary McLeod ( Sam) took the match with 7 Dogs for 3.51 kgs. Mike Peters was 2nd with 4 Dogs for 2.60, Kev 3rd with 4 Dogs and 2 Dragonets for 2.20, and Terry Jones 4th with 4 Dogs for 2.15. John Jones had 3 for 1.59 in 5th and Dave Lunt 2 for 1.16 in 6th. Gary Bates took the heaviest fish prize with a Dog of 0.79 kgs. Janet Dorling the ladies prize, top team were Kev and Terry with 68 points. | |

| It appears there has been a problem with the people who provide the forum.
There are lots of other forums that have also lost information posted since Saturday. This is also the reason for the appearence and access problems over the last 24 hours.
They are working to sort it out. | |

| What a cracking night! Weather was perfect, and the fishing was good for the first half of the match. As is usually the case, i get myself into a commanding lead, then everything goes a bit Pete Tong, and the fish stop playing. I had 5 fish in the first 2 casts. 2 Dragonets in size, and 3 Dabs that were all under. The Dogs started then, and i managed four in the next couple of hours, which put me well in the lead. Everything went quiet then until I had a good slack liner, and got all excited as it ran sideways along the beach as i reeled in. Theres me dreaming of a pool winning Schoolie, but alas this was the result. It weighed 1.00.04, so it was a specimen and provided a decent amount of fresh bait to last us until the end of the match. All i managed in the last half of the match was a dropped Dog. Terry added a Dog to his bag, and reports from the other end of the beach suggested they were now catching fish. Still, it wasnt as bad a night as the poor sod from the other club who were fishing the other end of the beach. Apparently, one of their members didnt survive their match, his body was carted off in an ambulance while the others all fished on! | |

| As kev said, it was a beautiful night!
Here’s my version of events… After having a smooth journey down and missing any major road works, me and Blaster arrived at about 5pm with plenty of time to spare, so after a quick stroll down the beach we headed into town for a cuppa! After a quick drive around and failing to see a roadside café we parked up and headed into the centre. While walking up one of the streets we passed a pub with people sitting outside enjoying the glorious sunshine! To say I was tempted was an understatement! But having been up since 5.30am for work I know if I did have a pint I probably would have nodded off on the beach! So with this in mind me and Blaster settled for a coffee and a tea in the local chippy / cafe (like too old farts!!!) The funny thing was when we asked for drinks and no food, the girl behind the counter had to check if it was ok to serve us? Even funnier was that the boss had to pop his head around the corner to give us the once over before agreeing! Never mind, now suitably refreshed we headed off to book in.
(The Match) I decided to fish just to the left of the car park as I have done on the last few occasions where I normally do well, Shaun the new member decided to fish to my left having said he needed a light as he had forgot his…(it wasn’t until about two hours into the match that I realized he meant he had forgotten his lighter not his headlamp!) anyway as it turned out the fishing was steady so I was able to have a good chat during the night where I was able to pass on some tips and the benefit of my experience which was nice (and before you say it Kev I will say it for you… “WHAT EXPERIENCE?) Anyway, back to the fishing… it was only ten minutes into the match when Kev (who had drove up to the rock with his dad) decided to ring Blaster to “GLOAT” about the fact he had had a dragonet and was weighing in! Unfortunately for Kev as blaster put his phone away I wound in a dog! So Blaster rang him back to wipe the smile off his face! As the match went on it seemed as Kev and terry had made the right decision to fish up against the rock as kev had 4 dogs and two Dragonets and Terry had three dogs, at the same time I who had had a dog first cast and picked up another two singles had been stuck on three for some time! This is where the fishing died a death and everybody went through a quiet spell. To be honest some would say it was just luck but I can honestly say I planned it this way (Honestly) that I would only catch three dogs early on so that there would be enough oxygen in the water in my bucket for them to be happy! Anyway, time was now ticking on and I thought Kev had had enough time thinking he had done enough, so I decided to try again and subsequently catch a single dog to get me going again then wait till the final two casts where I landed a double and then a single to finish with a match winning 7 dog bag! Now as I say.. some people would say its luck but all I can say to Kev is… Skill is temporary but class is permanent!!!!All that was left was a nice steady? drive home, and collapse into bed after a 21 hour day!
Ps If Mike says I tricked him, due to having an agreement that if he went to the midland game fair I wouldn’t fish either…. In my defense, Blaster needed a lift so I had to go!!!
Sam.
