The final match of this year`s `summer` league took place last night in horrendous conditions, with heavy rain all night to dampen the spirits, and an Easterly wind to ruin the fishing.
Despite all this, 17 members and a guest took part, with 12 weighing in. The dabs that usually abound at this venue must have got a night off, there were plenty of whiting, the best one over a pound, but just one codling and a couple of flounders for a bit of variety.
The winner was John Jones, with 4 whiting and a codling for 1.72 kgs. 2nd was Alan Jones with 7 whiting for 1.66, 3rd Mike Peters, with 4 whiting and a flounder for 1.33 , the last of the cash went to Bill McLintock, in 4th with 6 whiting for 1.30,
Chris Jackson took 5th with 6 for 1.06, and Dave Roberts 6th with 4 whiting for 0.94, including one of 39cms. weighing 0.48 kgs.
The heaviest fish was J.J.`s codling of 0.93 kgs., and top team were Mike Peters and Dave Lunt with 65 points.
After rechecking every match card from 12 matches this morning to make sure, the final result of the league is , Champion, Norman Dorling on 304 points, 2nd myself on 301, 3rd Mike Peters on 300, and 4th Paul Jones on 299, that`s close!
