8 of us had an 8 hour trip aboard Suveran II yesterday.
As the general fishing off Rhyl is still picking up, it was decided to head into the Dee and fish in the main channel, about a mile and a half from Hilbre in search of some Plaice.
Due to the Fog we couldnt see for more than a hundred yards in any direction so it was a bit eerie out there.
The Plaice failed to make an appearance, although we had plenty of Dabs each, a small schollie came aboard, as well as a Sole, a Doggie and a surprise Thornie of about 4lb. We didnt even find a Flounder between us!!!
As the tide was dropping we upped anchor and headed back to Prestatyn to fish for the smoothies.
First drop on softie resulted in a Starry for me.
A few more came aboard, including a Common for Dan.
There were plenty of missed bites and the fish seemed to be coming and going in waves. Quiet for a while then a quick flurry of bites and then back to nothing again.
Our last move was onto the banks off Gronant, using fresh lug in search of a Bass. Unfortunately all we managed here were a couple of small Dabs but it was good to be out on such a lovely calm day and ive even got some sunburn from when the fog lifted at dinner time.
