WINTER SHORE LEAGUE -MATCH 5
CLUB WATERS ROVER - SAT. MARCH 20TH
17 members signed in for the last match of the winter league, with 10 of us choosing to fish at Talacre, despite the bad reports from the open match there last weekend
It turned out to be the right move, although the fishing was unbelievably poor at least most of us weighed something in. The top 5 weights came from there, with Gary Bates taking first place, 2 dabs, a whiting, and a flounder were enough to win with a weight of 0.68kgs.Dave Jones took 2nd with 3 dabs and a rockling for 0.56, Mike Peters 3rd with a flounder and a whiting for 0.41, and Terry Jones 4th with 2 dabs for 0.35. Allan Illman was 5th with a whiting and a dab for 0.31, and the only weigher from anywhere other than Talacre was Norman Dorling with a flounder of 0.30 from Deganwy, this was enough to reclaim the title of Winter league champion that he`d lent to Kev for a year.
Top team on the night were Mike Peters and Dave Lunt with 40 points, but not enough to stop Norman and Billy from taking the team prize with a total of 244 points from the 5 matches.
Stephen Higginson took the junior prize with 2 rockling for 0.09, and finished as top junior again.
