Not such a good forecast for match no7, strong south-westerly winds making the venue selections a bit awkward, force 5-6 making it a bit too uncomfortable out in Colwyn Bay so we opted for the Menai Straits, even this venue can be a bit lumpy on the ebb but with low around 11-0am it would flatten with the flood to give us some comfortable fishing. Launching at Moel y Don wasn’t an option with this forecast so we had no option but to launch at Menai Bridge, this once very convenient slipway is now best avoided with parking very limited since the developers moved in building flats with restricted parking to the front and with the local council putting signs up banning the parking of trailers on the top of the beach.
Down to the fishing, not brilliant with most of the boats not staying on any of the marks to long and a lot of moving around trying to find the fish, at the end of the day Bob and Frank on Bass Hunter maintained their run of good form to win the match with eleven species, one specimen and top weight to give them 56 points followed by Gwyn and Fishy on Goldilocks with ten species and one specimen giving them 52 points, Dan and Adam on O2B@C where a close third with ten species and one specimen and 51 points, they also took the heaviest roundfish pool with a nice Ballan wrasse of 3-05-08, Mr Fish took the heaviest flatty pool with a dab of 00-08-12 the only flatty of the match.
Thanks to all who took part?
Apologies for the delayed report and the lack of pictures, next match Sunday September 7th.
