Only 2 juniors fished the second and final leg of Colwyn Bay Victoria sea angling clubs junior winter league at the Foryd yesterday.
Armed with plenty of fresh peeler supplied free of charge by Joe of Jokers tackle in Colwyn Bay ( thanks Joe ) and with reports of Flounders in the estuary, Jack and Tom set up on the slip and were raring to go when the match started.
It was fish from the off, with Tom first in with a Flounder of 40cms.
Jack soon followed with a fish of 42cms, weighed at 1-09-00lbs, which is over the clubs specimen weight of 1-08-00lbs.
….and so it continued, with the 2 lads matching each other fish for fish.
This was until jack caught a bonus Eel of 50cms to move into the lead. Tom also managed a specimen Flounder of his own at 1-08-04lbs, but Mike, Terry and I, who were all trying for one too couldnt get one big enough!
The fishing died over high, but Tom managed to pick up a couple of smaller Flounders to move into the lead, but on the penultimate cast, Jack brought in a double header of Flounders to move back into the lead.
Jack was the winner with 6 Flounders and an Eel for a total length of 265cms. Tom was just behind with 6 Flounders for 213cms.
This result means Tom Jones wins the J.T trophy with 29 points from 2 matches.
Here is the final table
1. Tom Jones 347cms 29points
2. Jack Peters 321cms 28points
3. Tom Davies 85cms 14points
4. Dan Peters 31cms 12points
The first match of the Junior summer league is at Deganwy on Saturday 28th April, fishing from 5pm until 8pm. Meeting at the footbridge carpark by 4.30pm.
