Me and Daddy had promised Mike a trip to Talacre for ages and last night we finally got round to making it happen.

The wind was coming from the South and was bloody cold.

I fished 2 rods and i think the only times i reeled either rod in without fish was on the last cast on each when the flow had almost stopped.

My first cast resulted in a double header of a Codling and a reasonable Dab.

I carried on with mainly double headers of Dabs on both my rods, the better ones weighing between 8 and 9 ounces.

I did find a better Codling which was a nice bonus as ive only had tiny ones so far this winter. This one was close to the 35cm minimum landing size but went back to grow some more.

We didnt need the compasses to get back to the carpark, but the pint in The Smugglers was most welcome.

The fishing was a little disappointing to be honest. I ended up with 2 Codling and about a dozen Dabs between 2 rods ( we usually catch this many on each rod at this time of year ) There were no Whiting which was a bit strange. scratch

Terry had more Dabs than me on his 2 rods, catching them in doubles and trebles with a small Codling and Mike was happy with his fish a cast for the duration of the session.

Looking forward to Flint Cob on Sunday now cheers

Happy Days

Headwyn and Squidward assured me that the long walk out to the Green Buoy this time of year would be worth the effort.

Frozen Lug was the bait of choice, with a fish tip to assist.
Dabs and Whiting were the target, with the chance of a Codling or 2.

Due to the topography and tidal flow, I was warned that bites may be hard to detect.
After 15 minutes, my first retrieve had a Dab hanging on.

Elsewhere, my guides were doing well from the off.
Double and Triple headers of Dab were coming in.

It was at least a fish a cast for us all.
Surprisingly, no Whiting were showing, but the Dabs were here in good numbers.

A few Codling made an appearance. No great size, with Headwyn having the best of the bunch.

I ended up with half a dozen Dabs. Headwyn and Squidward were well into double figures with a few Codling thrown in for good measure.

Many thanks for the invite!
