Due to the westerly winds, yesterdays planned trip to Trearddur Bay was postponed so Terry, Mike ( Fairziff ) and I fished Llam Carw over low last night.
We were sheltered from the wind and the rain wasnt too bad so after picking up bait and species hunt cards from Gazs on the way, we hoped for a good start to the hunt.
Terry was doing well early on, fishing 2 rods at distance and steadily bringing in Dogs and Whiting on both of them.
He also had a small Poor Cod.
Mike and i had both opted for one rod set up for Conger, with another fished further out with small hooks.
I managed a Whiting, then dropped a Dog off at the base of the rocks, before i had a bite on my Conger rod. The fish had managed to find a snag, but i freed it, and landed a little strappy on Mackeral.
As the tide dropped, both Mike and i joined Terry on his rock, and the skies cleared to give fantastic views of the night sky.
Mike had 2 good runs on his Conger rod, but both fish managed to take him into snags before he could get their heads up.
We were still catching the odd fish on the distance rods but on one retrieve, i was surprised to find this critter hooked!
My first ever.
Just like buses, next cast i caught this!!!
Bizarre, never had one in over 20 years of fishing, then 2 in consecutive casts!!!
We decided we had all had enough just before midnight, and started packing up. As i tackled down the distance rod, i had a run on the Conger rod. I struck into the fish and got its head up straight away, and it wasnt long before this came slithering up the rocks.
It was weighed at 06-13-00lbs, before a few photies.
Unfortunately, our camera wasnt well, so i hope Mike will have some better photos.
That was the last of the action, apart from the long walk back to the car.
All fish and Lobsters were returned.
Happy Days!
