SUMMER SHORE LEAGUE 2009

MATCH 3 SAT. 9TH MAY
LLANDUDNO NORTH SHORE

17 members turned out for this one, after a wet and windy afternoon the weather turned in our favour, dry and calm with a nice sunset , it almost felt like summer, just not warm enough.
There were plenty of whiting around, but most were undersize, with a few dogfish showing up later as it got dark. Gary McLeod found 8 dogs and 3 whiting from in front of the paddling pool, to walk away with 1st place with a weight of 7.31 kgs. John Jones took 2nd with 6 dogs and a rockling for 4.25 kgs. from behind the houses. 3rd went to Chris Jackson with 5 dogs and 4 whiting for 3.48, and 4th to Steve Parry with 4 dogs and 2 whiting for3.42. Mike Peters was 5th with 2.80, including the heaviest fish of the match, a dog of 1.11 kgs., and 6th place was taken by Dave Mitchell with 2.60.
Stephen Higginson won the junior prize with1.02 kgs. and Sue Price the ladies prize. Top team were Gary McLeod and Mike Jones with 68 points.

I can’t speak for everyone, but apart from the endless attack of undersize whiting i really enjoyed the match last night! The weather and the sea conditions made for a comfortable night and the fact that the beach is steep means the tide doesn’t chase you back relentlessly every five minutes!
Having only fished the match because my planned boat trip out of Whitby was cancelled the night before it was an even bigger pleasure to win the match... for once my reading of the beach paid off, having seen the waves breaking relatively far out both to the left and right of the beach at low water i decided there must have been a bit of a basin in front of the paddling pool so this is where i stayed (some could say it was because “ I COULDN’T BE BOTHERED DRIVING OUT” ... and they would be technically correct? But only because i trusted my superior judgement! Ha! Ha!)

Here’s a couple of pictures i took during the match, sorry for the quality but they were off my phone!)

Roll on the next match!
Sam.

Isnt it funny how everyone loves to hate North Shore, but after catching a few fish on a night like last night, with calm conditions and a nice sunset it seems a much better venue than it does in a North Westerly in December
lol! lol! lol!

Here are a few photies i took with the extra time i had because Tom wasnt with me.

Terry decided he would spend the first half hour going for a Bass.

Mitch concentrating hard

A view along the beach.

Hmm, i wonder when the Dogs will make an appearance?

Mitch waiting for another Dog.

And lastly, a couple of comparison shots between Terrys little Huss ( on the left ) and his Dog.
