After hearing that there were plenty of smoothys around we decided to have a crack at them last Sat.Me,Adam, and the new cabin bitch for the day (Alex) headed off from Colwyn Bay towards L.pier.Down went the baits and it was doggy city for the 1st hour then the Huss came on the feed.Alex was into the 1st one with this about 5lb
I then lost one at the surface about the same size when it decided to spit the bait out.!We had a few smaller ones after that then my bro had a good knock and a fish took off, peeling line off his reel, after a good scrap this fella came to the surface
Then next cast he had another 1,a bit bigger this time about 7lb
Sparrow arms was wrestling with the musscular hound to keep it under control.
No sooner were they there, they were gone, me and Al did'nt have a sniff! It went dead after that so a move was in order so we headed towards the little orme. Here again we had loads of Huss which were a bit smaller this time most were around 3-4lb
Adam then has a mother of all bites and the fish decides to run up tide under the anchor rope and towards Anglesey at a rate of knots!!Tope on was the shout and his reel emptied within seconds so he shouts me to get the anchor up and chase it to get some line back
,so off we go after it
me and Al laughing at him struggling with the beast.5mins pass and he still cant do much with it, he's just holding on whilst it goes on a run after a run then disaster strikes the line goes slack and jaws is off, it just spat the hook
. A few swear words were then said
Fair play it was 1 hell of scrap, it would of been nice to have seen it but thats fishing!!!After all the excitement and a barren hour we decided to call it a day and headed back in.It was a good relaxing afternoon out, plenty of fish and laughs
