The final match of league was fished in the Straits last Sunday, we had another good forecast but only 3 boats fished.
Roger on Lady M had hurt his back the previous week and was unfit for any waves that we would have had if we’d gone out to sea, so we decided to fish the calmer waters in the straits so we could all get out.
I don’t think I’ve ever fished the Straits in such calm conditions (it’s normally our last resort in bad weather!) The sun was out and we had light winds all day which meant it was a perfect day to be out.
The fishing was to be as expected, we had ballans, dogs, cod, whiting, pout, poor cod, a few small huss, a few flatfish and lots of minis.
Goldilocks recorded there 1st ever match win (well done lads) with 12 species and 2 specimens, 23.02.04lb for 62 points
Lady M came 2nd with 13 species and 1 specimen, 11.06.04lb, and 61 points.
O2b@c came 3rd with 10 species and 1 specimen, 08.04.12lb and 51 points.
Goldilocks won the heaviest round fish pool with a surprise thorny of 10.08.04lb.
Lady M won the heaviest flatfish pool with a specimen flounder of 01.13.12lb
Specimen fish caught were:-
Lady M flounder 01.13.12lb
O2b@c ballan 02.04.00lb
Goldilocks thorny 10.08.04lb
Goldilocks ballan 02.15.12lb
The final league standings are:-
Lady M 462 points
O2ba@c 418 points
Goldilocks 331 points
Hannah Lou 135 points
Jo Amm 98 points
Well done to Lady M on the league win.
A meeting will take place after xmas in the club house to discus the format of next years matches. With such a low turn out of boats this year we need fresh ideas for next year so please attend. (New members more than welcome)
Dates of the meeting will be arranged in the new year.
Thanks to everyone that fished the league.
Dan
