Four juniors fished the third and final leg of Colwyn Bay Victoria sea angling clubs junior winter league at Tan Lan last night.
We met at the Arches and I was pleased to find there were no pleasure anglers infront of them so we fished there. The kids all set up and the first casts were sent out at 7pm.
Thomas Jones had a bite first cast but the fish didnt hook itself. This was put right next cast when he was first to catch with a Rockling of 23cms.
Thomas Davies was next in with a double header of a 23cm slug,
and a Long Spined Sea Scorpion of 10cm.
Stephen Higginson quickly went into the lead with his own double header of Rockling of 23cms and 19cms.
Jack Peters opened his account with one of 22cms
Dave Lunt had a pass out so brought a rod down and was into Rockling aswell although hes a bit old to take part in the match.
All four kids had caught so the pressure was off, which is just as well because the next hour or so remained quiet before Tom J moved into the lead with a 22cm slug.
Things stayed the same until the last 5 minutes when Tom D went back into the lead with a 24cm Rockling which was just under specimen weight and the best fish of the night,
Then Stephen had a treble header on his last cast to win the match.
The results were, in first place Stephen Higginson with 5 Rockling for 101cms. Thomas Davies was second with 2 Rockling and a Sea Scorpion for 57cms, just pipping Thomas Jones who was third with 2 Rockling for 55cms. Jack Peters was fourth with a Rockling of 22cms.
This result means that the final league table looks like this.

Thomas Davies is this years winter league champion with 44 points. 2 wins and a second place from 3 matches so a big well done to him.
Last years champion Thomas Jones finished second with 28 points and Jack Peters was third with 17 points. Stephen Higginson won the only match he fished to finish fourth with 15 points.
