Its all down to the weather and the time of year.
Its too cold for the Dogs and too calm for the Codling. You have the chance of a late Bass or a flatfish, but there are thousands of Whiting out there, and getting the bait past them to pick up something a little better is the challenge. One which most of the anglers couldnt manage in our Open on Saturday night!
Big baits in rougher weather will be more likely to find you a Codling, especially if you fish near Tan Lan headland, but i would settle for the Whiting for now. At least you`re catching, they give you a decent rattle, and you can get them to over a pound down the prom at this time of year.
Itll only be a couple of months and the only thing you`ll see is ther odd Rockling.
