PostSubject: Summer Match 5. Tan Lan. 29/10/11.   29th October 2011, 11:53 pm

4 juniors fished the fifth and final leg of CBVSACs junior summer league at Tan Lan on Saturday night.

The rain started as soon as we got out of the cars and by the time we had set up to the right of the Arches it was pouring!

The fish were there from the start, with Jack and Dan Peters fighting it out for second place in the league, both had a couple of fish on the card within the first half hour. Jack had 2 Whiting of 17cm and 16cm, but Dan went into the lead with a Whiting of 17cm and a Rockling of the same size. 1cm in it!!!

Tom was next in, and had Dogfish of 53cm and 61cm in consecutive casts, followed by a double header of a 16cm and 19cm Whiting to take him into a commanding lead.

Young Hannah felt better about her Dad keeping her out in the rain after landing a Whiting and a Dogfish, and all the kids missing some good doggie bites.

The rain eased and before long, the sky cleared and we were able to watch the firework displays from Abergele and Pensarn in the distance as well as doing some star gazing.

Everyone added further fish to their tally, Hannah was made up to land her new personal best fish, which was a Dog of 2lb 4oz. Well done Hannah!

Dan had the biggest Dog of the night at 02-06-08lbs and Jack had a couple to put him ahead in the race for second.

Tom, who had already clinched the league before this match went on to catch a double header of Dogs and followed this up with a Codling of 46cm which weighed 02-04-08lbs.

The last hour was quiet as the tide flooded quickly making the water the kids were fishing into very shallow and so they were nearly as happy as us Dads when the time came to pack in and head home.

Tom Jones won the match with 2 Whiting, 4 Dogfish and a Codling for 316cm.
Jack Peters was second with 3 Dogs and 2 Whiting for 213cm.
Hannah Elmer took third place with 2 Dogs and a Whiting for 152cm.
Dan Peters was fourth with a Whiting, a Rockling and a Dogfish for 99cm.

Thanks to Joker for supplying the sandeel and ragworm for the kids to use and the tackle for the goodie bags at the end of the night. Much appreciated Joe!

The final league table is as follows.
1. Tom Jones 74 points 915cms.
2. Jack Peters 53 points 528cms.
3. Dan Peters 51 points 414cms.
4. Stephen Higginson 36 points 315cms.
5. Hannah Elmer 31 points 342cms.
6. Tom Davies 15 points 68cms.
7. Hannah Davies 5 points 0cms.

Thanks to everyone who has fished and of course to Joe for supplying the great bait that has caught some fantastic fish this year, as well as plenty of prizes to keep the competitors enthusiastic.

I will pick a couple of dates for a Winter league and will let you all know them by Christmas. The matches will be fishing from the car at high water ( probably Colwyn prom for Rockling ) I will fit them around the shore section so watch this space.
