conwy coast dilema!

just spent the last 3 weeks fishing some spots along the conwy coast, conwy esturay, west shore, north shore, penrhyn bay, colwyn bay and old colwyn. used various baits, crab, sand eel, lug, squid and mackerel at various times and tide states. not even a single bite, bait not even touched, the only action i have seen was from a boat from rhos point and then it was only doggies with the one exception of a decent bull huss. im no expert so the only thing i can put it down to is the time of year, but having said that i cant remember it ever being this bad in the 45 years ive been fishing. can anyone explain...regards bernie

Its still a bit early for fishing off the open beaches at the moment, although Bass have started to show but are very few and far between.

If you take a look at our shore and junior sections match diarys and reports, the matches are in the areas where the fish are likely to be, and at this time of year that will be in the estuarys using peeler crab as bait.

In the next week or two, the annual algae bloom will take hold along the beaches making them small like rotten cabbage and removing all the oxygen from the water. I would advise you steer well clear at this time as the fishing is usually very poor until it breaks up.

Fish the Conwy estuary for Flounders, Eels and the chance of a Bass or the Dee estuary for the same with a good chance of a Plaice from some marks.
