Can any body help me out please? I`ve spent a few nights fishing at Colwyn Bay and am only catching whiting, I`m not really whinging, but would like to go home with something else scratch

Its all down to the weather and the time of year.

Its too cold for the Dogs and too calm for the Codling. You have the chance of a late Bass or a flatfish, but there are thousands of Whiting out there, and getting the bait past them to pick up something a little better is the challenge. One which most of the anglers couldnt manage in our Open on Saturday night! Evil or Very Mad

Big baits in rougher weather will be more likely to find you a Codling, especially if you fish near Tan Lan headland, but i would settle for the Whiting for now. At least you`re catching, they give you a decent rattle, and you can get them to over a pound down the prom at this time of year. cheers

There's a recent fishing report from Fairziff on here, he had a good session at splash point in Rhyl the other night with plenty of dabs getting caught, some good quality fish too, if you like fishing for dabs that would be worth a go.
